“Guerra Não Linear” explora a conexão entre ruído e (contra) informação como estratégias de ocupação dos espaços acústicos e públicos nos quais é apresentada. O trabalho foi encomendado para a 9ª edição do Festival Novas Frequências, que ocorreu no Rio de Janeiro em dezembro de 2019. Utilizando caixas de som construidas por nós e fontes sonoras portáteis, artistas, colaboradores da cena carioca e público participante realizaram o trabalho durante uma procissão entre o MAM do Rio e a Cinelândia. Posteriormente, em fevereiro de 2020, no evento Affecting Technologies, Machining Intelligences - organizado pelo Grupo de Artes e Inteligência Artificial (GAIA) da InovaUSP (Universidade de São Paulo) - a dupla André Damião e Gabriel F. Lemos adaptou o formato móvel para uma apresentação reduzida, utilizando dispositivos eletrônicos e percussão para ocupar o espaço acústico do laboratório do GAIA.

Non-Linear Warfare is a collective performance/composition freely informed by the current Russian strategy of hybrid warfare, briefly described as an intelligence and military project that employs disinformation and cultural subversion to disorient military and civilian targets. Originally composed for the 9th edition of the Festival Novas Frequências, which took place in Rio de Janeiro (December 2019), the composition “Non-Linear Warfare” explores the different relations between noise, (counter)information, acoustic space, and architecture. Through loudspeakers and portable sound devices, musicians and voluntary performers led a procession guided by verbal scores and urban paths. In February of 2020, at the symposium Affecting Technologies, Machining Intelligences - organized by the Arts and Artificial Intelligence Group (GAIA) in the InovaUSP (University of São Paulo) - the duo André Damião and Gabriel F. Lemos adapted the original mobile format for an improvised new version of the piece. Making use of electronic devices and percussion to occupy the acoustic space of the GAIA lab, this reduced version was designed as an sound only presentation of the work.
